Assignment #7: English Song

Damien Rice - The Blower's Daughter

And so it is
Just like you said it would be
Life goes easy on me
Most of the time

And so it is
The shorter story
No love, no glory
No hero in her sky

I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes...

And so it is
Just like you said it should be
We'll both forget the breeze
Most of the time

And so it is
The colder water
The blower's daughter
The pupil in denial

I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes...

Did I say that I loathe you?
Did I say that I want to Leave it all behind?

I can't take my mind off you
I can't take my mind off you
I can't take my mind off you
I can't take my mind off you
I can't take my mind off you
I can't take my mind...

My mind...my mind...
'Til I find somebody new

My Comments:
This is one of my favorite songs.
At first, I heard this song from Super Star Avenue.
Because Anthony Neely's voice so charming that I love this song.

The Anthony's version

However, the version of the original singer is very classic which let me feel sad.
Throughing his voice could feel the complex emotional repression.
Really like the paragraph:
And so it is
The shorter story
No love, no glory
No hero in her sky

Then the repeated sentence—— I can't take my eyes off you which expressed a deep sense of love.
And the last sentence—— 'Til I find somebody new that it sounded like muttering which made people sorrowful.
This song is very beautiful and the lyrics is understandable.

This song is also the movie Closer's theme song.

Assignment #6: Steve Jobs' Talk

Steve Jobs' 2005 Stanford Commencement Address

I learned a lot from Steve Jobs' Talk.
He told us three stories.

The first story is about connecting the dots.
In the first story, Jobs told us about his background and experience when he was young.
He also told us why he dropped out that he never regret making this decision.
I very like a sentence in this story.
"You have to trust that the somehow connect in your future."
Find something that I trust. Believe myself and go on.

The second story is about love and loss.
He told us that we have to find what we love.
In the second story, I learned that.
Working will fill a large time of everyone life, and the only way to do what I believe is great work.
Keep looking! Don't settle! It's very important!

The third story is about death.
He taught us that the most important tool he had ever encountered to help him make the big choices.
The tool is remembering that I'll be dead soon.
"If you live each day as if it was your last, someday you'll most certainly be right."
Time is limited and precious.
So we have to know what we truly want to become.
I'm moving forward to my goal.
"Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish."
This is the most significant word.
